CEREC Same-Day Crowns

CEREC Crowns in Stow, OH

Dental crowns are full-coverage caps that encase the entire tooth. They are often used to restore severely damaged teeth. If the tooth is too weak to support fillings, inlays/onlays and veneers, crowns can bring back function and appearance.

Traditional crown design and placement usually require more than one trip to the dentist. The tooth is prepared, impressions are taken and the crown is made in the dental laboratory. While waiting, you will wear a temporary crown to protect the tooth. After a few weeks, the permanent crown is fitted and adjusted.

Not all patients have the time to make return trips to the dentist, and most want to get their dental care completed in one day. Stow, OH dentist Dr. Murphy is excited to offer CEREC same-day crowns and restorations. Crown design and placement is done on the same day at Aesthetic Image Dental, saving you time and money!

The CEREC Advantage

CEREC (CERamic REConstruction) is a system that features CAD/CAM and an in-office milling machine to make crowns, veneers and fillings while you wait. Dr. Murphy will prepare the tooth (cleaning and shaping) and scan them with a special wand.

The detailed images are sent to the CEREC computer, which uses the pictures to construct a 3D model of the replacement tooth. The instructions are then forwarded to the milling unit that carves the permanent crown out of a single piece of ceramic. In just a few minutes, your brand new crown is ready to be placed!

CEREC crowns eliminate inconveniences like multiple visits and temporary restorations that may leak. Using high-grade porcelain also means that the crown is lifelike and lasts for many years. The CEREC system is not limited to crowns. It can also make one-visit porcelain veneers, fillings and inlays/onlays—perfect for patients who want an instant smile transformation.
